Estimate request forms
The same form builder as web-to-lead forms, set up instead to ask a stranger — or one of your own customers — what they want priced, so you can turn it into an estimate. Every submission creates a lead, so this needs the Leads module switched on — not just Quotes.
When you would use this: to let people request a quote from your site without emailing you first, or to give your existing customers a "Request an estimate" button inside their own portal.
Building one: works exactly like a web-to-lead form (see that article for the field builder, protections and notifications), with one difference — a field must be mapped to an email address, because a price has to go somewhere. You can also choose to have a request additionally create a lead, so it shows up in your pipeline as well as your request queue.
Two ways a request reaches you: a stranger fills in the public form on your site, which always creates a request (and, if you chose it, a lead too). A signed-in customer instead uses "Request an estimate" inside their own portal — their name, email and company are filled in and locked from your firm's own records, so they cannot request a quote pretending to be someone else, and the request is linked straight to their customer record rather than creating a lead.
Where requests land: every submission — from either door — appears in your firm's Estimate requests inbox (see that article) for pricing.
What happens next: nothing is priced automatically; a request waits until someone turns it into an estimate.
When it refuses: the public form behaves the same as a web-to-lead form when it is off or protected traffic is turned away. A customer with no request form configured yet is shown an honest "nothing set up here" rather than an error.
