Spam filters
Plain-text rules — no wildcards, no regular expressions — checked against the sender, the subject or the body of an incoming email, only while spam filtering is switched on for your firm.
When you would use this: a pattern keeps arriving that a blocked sender or domain would not catch on its own — a phrase in the subject, say, rather than one specific address.
Adding one: the plain substring to match, and which part of the message to check it against. A match drops the message before it opens a ticket, and still shows on "Inbound mail", naming the rule that caught it.
Switching filtering on or off: a single setting for your whole firm, shown at the top of this screen — with it off, none of the rules here are checked at all, whatever is listed.
When it refuses: reading the list and the on/off setting needs the settings-reading permission; adding, editing or deleting a rule needs the permission to manage tickets — narrower than most of this group's Setup screens, since a spam rule is a support-desk decision rather than a firm-wide setting.
