Checklist templates

A saved list of steps — the same twelve things you check every time — typed out once so a task's own checklist can be filled from it in one click instead of retyped by hand.

When you would use this: for any task that repeats the same steps often enough that typing them out each time is its own small chore — onboarding a customer, closing out a project, whatever your firm does the same way every time.

Adding one: a name and the items, one per line.

Using one: on a task's own checklist, fill it from a saved template — the items are copied onto the task at that moment. Editing the template afterwards changes nothing already sitting on a task; it only changes what a future "fill from template" copies.

Editing or deleting one: a rename or a rewritten item list changes the template only, never a task that already filled from it before the change. Deleting a template leaves every task that already used it exactly as it was.

A narrower view: none for reading — anyone who may see tasks may see the templates; changing them needs the same broader settings permission every other lookup table in Setup does.

When it refuses: "Checklist templates are not available to your role" means you lack the permission tasks themselves need — ask an Owner or Admin. Seeing the templates but unable to add or edit one means you are missing the settings permission specifically.
